Inspiration for my day!!

Review: Friction

Friction Friction by Sapphire Knight
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Friction by Sapphire Knight is a gripping MC novel full of graphic language and adult situations. It's audience is definitely an 18+ one.

I was gifted this book as an ARC for an honest review and to be honest I wasn't sure what to expect. This is the first of Sapphire's books that I have had the opportunity of reading. Not to say I haven't wanted to, as I have a collection of her books on my kindle ready for me to indulge in.

This book had me from the start! As you start reading there is a little note advising that you should probably read Forsaken Control before diving into this one. That had me a little sceptical that maybe I was missing something, but I had nothing to worry about. Although I will definitely be reading Forsaken Control very soon!!

To begin with we meet Sadie, a pregnant girl on her way to her brother, who also happens to be a member of the Oath Keeper MC in Texas. Originally from California, Sadie, now no longer working, decides to sell her parents house, to make a fresh start for her and her child. Leaving behind her former life and her baby's daddy - Ghost, a member of Iron Fists MC in California, Sadie embarks on a journey across states to join her brother 2 Piece.

When Sadie reaches the Oath Keeper's compound she is confronted by Twist, a club member who takes her in and looks after her until her brother awakens. Twist we discover, is an ex military man who lost his wife and daughter in tragic circumstances. After unsuccessfully trying to end his own life he is taken into the Oath Keeper MC where he becomes known as the Unholy One. That nickname says it all I believe, and I am sure you can imagine what a tragedy like the one he suffered can do to a man.

This is a story of a girl looking for love and stability and a man battling his demons to find his way back. It is an unconventional love story, that sucks you in, keeping you reading so that you can find out where the story will lead you. Everything that happens in between has you on the edge of your seat. It really is a fantastic story and one I would highly recommend!!

I felt my eyes widen as his voice encircled me like a warm blanket. No matter how many years went by, I would know his voice even if it were a whisper. I slowly turned, but I froze when I saw him standing in the doorway of the parlour, leaning against the panel with his hands jammed into the front pockets of his jeans.
His eyes, my mind whispered. What’s wrong with his eyes?
There were many things that I loved about the man before me, but his eyes were by far my favourite. They were the first things I looked at whenever I saw him. There was always a mischievous glint in his whisky-coloured eyes that only I could see because I looked hard enough. It was a glint that told me his soul was alive and thriving, but what I saw now caused me to shiver.
There was no glint, gleam or light of any sort in his eyes. They were dead and reflected the clouded grey skies that often hung over York. They were as captivating as they were haunting.
Even though I moved thousands of miles away to escape him, every day for the past six years I woke up seeing those hazel eyes and fell asleep hearing that soothing voice. I couldn’t shake him whether I was half a world away or in the next room.
I lived and breathed Kale Hunt, and it was killing me.
“Kale,” I managed to whisper as I stared at the first man to ever break my heart.
He gazed at me then with no trace of emotion he robotically blinked and nodded in greeting. “Welcome home, Laney Baby.”

Review - The Do-Over - L.E Bross

***ARC Provided by the Author for an Honest Review***

The Do-Over by L.E Bross is a heart-warming story about two people finding love against all the odds.
This is a standalone novel written in the third person, which at first, I found very off-putting. As you delve deeper into the story, you forget about how it is being told, getting caught up in the story line itself. There is no violence, and the sex scenes are minimal, but tasteful.
This piece of work is really well written and an enjoyable read.
When Melanie McAllister moves into in a small town named Biscay Beach, it is only supposed to be a temporary arrangement.
With her ex-husband now in prison for his part in inside trading at McAllister Investments, Melanie finds herself with nowhere else to live but the cottage left to her when her parents died. Not only did she lose her job, but all of her money, and even her home was caught up in litigation, leaving her with her mother’s old BMW convertible and a small amount of cash.
What you discover about Melanie is that she is an uptight person who was molded to believe that emotions had no place in business. Everything about her is planned, and calculated. She lives for the hustle and bustle of the city, not being one for peace and quiet. Thus making her very unspontaneous and somewhat boring.
************************

Eli Stuart, a local in Biscay Beach, is a contractor. The one man they call upon when anything is in need of repair.
There was a time, when Eli was an artist, one of the locals who displayed their work at Liesl’s, Arts n Tarts Café. A time before his ex-fiancé Kristi talked him into taking his prized works of art and selling them in a New York Gallery.
After he caught his fiancé in bed with the Gallery owner, he left it all, breaking his contract.
Returning to the small town, with his tail between his legs, he locked it all away, losing his motivation, his drive.
That was until he met Melanie McAllister at her sister’s Café.
What I really enjoyed about this story was how the characters were defined, each detail written is significant in understanding each of them as a person. To help you see why they are the way they are and how each of them helps the other to find their way back to love.
My favorite quote is on page 81 - ‘Maybe next time just give him head if you want to be nice’
This story is beautifully written, and well worth the read. I’d give it 5 stars and would highly recommend it.

Review - The Princess wore Plaid - Karen Hawkins

***ARC Provided by the Author for an Honest Review***

The Princess wore Plaid by Karen Hawkins is a tale of love set in Scotland in the Eighteenth Century, when countries were still run by Kings and Queens.

This novel appears to be the second book in a Series, told in the first person. Although well written, and being set in the Scottish Countryside, much of the story includes Scottish Dialogue. This takes a bit at times to get used to, as you are trying to understand the meaning of different words as you progress. I was caught off guard a few times, but was able to look past that, because it has a lovable story line. Another novel characteristic about this book is there is no graphic sex or violence. I love finding books like that, as most published works these days are more about the sex, and less about the story line.

This book introduces us to Tatiana Romanovin, a Princess from Oxenburg. Tatiana finds herself stranded in the Scottish countryside after there is an accident involving her coach, on her way to visit family. After being thrown from her coach she wanders around dazed until she comes across an inn name the ‘Red Lion’. It was here that she finds herself becoming a maid for innkeepers Iona and Ian Drummond, after they gracefully took her in.

It is in this Inn that Tatiana meets Lord Darrac Buchan, a troubled, private man, badly injured in a battle in India, whilst serving with the navy.  Buchan is a Scottish Lord, who resides in his family estate, also in the Scottish Countryside. Part of Buchan’s ritual is to dine at the Drummond’s Inn every Friday evening. It is during these visits that Buchan finds himself intrigued, and drawn to the intelligent Tatiana, bringing something out in him he never expected.

A reason to live…

This is a tale of discovery, and love. It’s hard to continue without giving away too much, but it is definitely a book I would love to recommend.

It is a refreshing outlook on two people, and their discovery of love.

For me this book deserves 4 stars.

Blurb:

She was perky, fun, and full of life—everything I hated about girls and their bullshit exterior. People called her bubbly; I called her “fake-as- hell.”

The edgy, dark, lonely girl in front of me was not the Olivia Brennan I knew from high school—far from it, actually. I knew the story—the whole town knew the story, we witnessed it all. It happened in the blink of an eye and the girl we knew was gone.

But I refuse to watch it anymore—I can’t stand it. I’m going to fix it—fix her. It’s time I showed Olivia Brennan her way back…

Back to the girl she used to be.

My Progress to date!! - My journey in this big world of writing...........

Just an update on how my life is progressing in the big world of writing and publishing. Over the last week, I have seen a dramatic change and have watched as my book if starting to find it's way into the huge book market.

I have created a review team, where I can interact, brainstorm, send out ARC's and anything else we deem fit!  The initial reviews, (all bar one) have been fantastic xx

I never anticipated that I would find readers who enjoyed my story line and characters as much as I do!! It has removed some of that self doubt, but I know I will have that with each new addition I create.

Being noticed by people and having them approach me of their own free will, is something I am cherishing, because it gives me hope that my dream of going somewhere with my writing could be a reality.

I am extremely grateful to everyone who has offered their support and encouragement, because it motivates me to continue on with this journey.............

And because I am still overwhelmed with my reviews, I am going to share just a couple more :)

A Positive Review to brighten my day!!

I got notification that one of my lovely reviewers had left me some feedback on my novel - Heroes and Villains on Amazon.

Just because I am excited, I have posted it below!!

Customer Review

5.0 out of 5 stars My heart is pounding from this story... simply amazing!, March 18, 2016
This review is from: Heroes and Villains: California Dreaming 1 (Kindle Edition)
Heroes and Villains started off sort of slow but I understand the need to setup the background for our characters and it all made more sense later on in the book to have that setup in the beginning.

Stacey kept me on my toes with this story and when i thought I had it figured out, I was proven wrong. I love it when the twists aren't what I expect and when I can be completely surprised.

The chemistry between the characters is awesome and I was definitely on a roller coaster of emotions throughout this book. The story line is captivating and the suspense keeps you moving through the story perfectly and sometimes... okay okay all the time wanting to speed up to find out what happens!

I haven't read a book that was this exhilarating in a long time and now I fully remember why I love romantic suspense novels so much! My heart is still pounding from reading it and wow I can't wait to see what Stacey has in the works!

Review: Tormented

Tormented Tormented by Jani Kay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is by far, my favourite of the Scorpio Stinger MC series!!

This has everything you would expect and more. I have wanted to know more about Harrison since I started this series and this book is everything I had hoped it would be.

Harrison and Eva's characters are well defined, with a realism to them, that I love when I am reading a new book.

This was a great, well written instalment, to a fantastic series and well worth the read.

Ok! The nerves are starting to kick in!!

OK!! so I am a little nervous today. I have found thirty lovely people to read and review Heroes and Villains for me. Now the self doubting kicks in.......   are they going to like it?

I just have to remember, that this is what I want, I want the world to read my stories and like them as much as I do :/

Heroes and Villains - Flashback Teaser!!

Where to next??

Now that my assistance from my publisher is coming to an end, I am faced with - what to do next?
I am still waiting on my professional review, which got pushed back to April and am yet to see my book video (which is still in production) so it appears that I need to push my debut novel some more on my end.

How much do you need to do? Is it pushy to ask other authors you follow if you can ask members of their groups if they would offer you some honest reviews, that can be posted to Amazon etc?

I have never expected anything to just happen and success to fall in my lap, but what do we, as new authors, need to do to put ourselves in a position where we can get noticed.

I also don't want to push something that nobody likes either :(

So.... this week has seen me join Books & Boys Book Blog as a reviewer, to add to the other review teams I am a part of. The more I get involved in the writing world, the happier I am. My hope is that I can one day, go on to be as successful as the wonderful authors I review for are. :)

Book 2# - Sins of the Father - Teaser :)

Review: Kiss Chasey

Kiss Chasey Kiss Chasey by Misti Murphy
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was gifted this novel for an honest review.

Misti Murphy is an author I have only just discovered, and I found her novel - Kiss Chasey to be a fantastic read. What I loved about this book, was that, it was never what it seemed. Just when you think you have the storyline worked out, it changes on you! I loved that!

Seeing as though, this is the first time I have read anything by Misti, I found the content to be very well written, with a complex storyline that kept you enthralled until the end.

I enjoy finding books that catch my interest in the first chapter, as there is more chance that I won't want to put it down. This book definitely did that, as I finished the book in two days.

If you are looking for something different from the usual romance books, then this is one I would highly recommend. x

Ocean, Jo Raven Cover Reveal

TITLE: OCEAN ( DAMAGE CONTROL 5)
AUTHOR: JO RAVEN
MODEL: Marc-André Laparé
PHOTOGRAPHER:Paul Henry Serres

Let me state upfront that I started out a normal kid – playing video games, skinning my knees and vying for my parents’ attention.
Until I got my wish and then wished I fucking hadn’t. I got their attention all right, and everything went to hell. I tried to protect my younger brother from the fallout. Lied to him about how bad things were.
But it wasn’t enough. And when the accident happened, he blamed me, like everyone else.
I’m guilty of many things. He’s right about that, at least. So damn guilty I’m sure everyone knows and will call me out on it.
Except they don’t. Nobody does, except my brother.
Not even Kayla, sexy and sweet and coolest girl ever, who keeps buying me coffee and trying to read my future. But my future isn’t in the goddamn cards, or even in my hands. I don’t see a future. I deny fate, but fate has me pinned like a moth and won’t let me walk away.
Won’t let me escape.
And yeah… you know you’re losing grip when the girl you want reads your palm and you’re scared to hell of what she’ll see and of the pain you can tell is coming.

OCEAN is book 5 in the series Damage Control - a series set in the same world as Inked Brotherhood. The boys of Damage Control were taken in by Zane Madden and Rafe Vestri and offered apprenticeship and work in the tattoo shop Damage Control.

"Standalone novel. No cliffhanger.
